A sepia colored photograph of a wooden building with a man dressed in a suit standing on the front porch and a man sitting and facing away from the camera. Earlier this month, I presented my first history of medicine (#histmed) conference poster at the MLGSCA/NCNMLG 2026 Joint Meeting. Though the conference was focused on medical librarianship, it offered an opportunity to highlight the region's medical history for colleagues who traveled to Las Vegas from across the West Coast and Southwest. I was so excited to share my findings that I made sure to pin my poster the morning of the poster session only to subsequently lose track of time networking and connecting with others that I missed the opportunity to stand next to my poster and talk about my findings (•́ ᴖ •̀).

A Second Opportunity...

The silver lining in this oopsy-do, however, is that my institution has what is called an IR or institutional repository where we can submit our publications to make them discoverable to the world. This past weekend, I took time to ensure my poster met accessibility requirements and that it was ready for deposit so that I could share this fascinating part of Las Vegas history with others.

Without further ado, here is:

Betting on the Future by Re-Discovering the Past: History of Hospital Infrastructure in Early Las Vegas and Southern Nevada

◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜ Made possible through the gems I found while searching in the University Libraries Special Collections & Archives Portal and the team that helps make research discoverable on OAsis.
